The day-to-day operation of Emporia Presbyterian Manor is led by dedicated professionals on our leadership team who bring a wealth of experience and specialized expertise to their positions.
Susan Siepelmeier, Executive Director
Susan joined Emporia Presbyterian Manor as activity director in June 1986. She had previously served as director of activities/social services/rehabilitation at Flint Hills Manor. Susan earned her bachelor’s degree in human development and the family from University of Nebraska Lincoln. She earned her gerontology certification from University of Nebraska Omaha. Susan is certified as a licensed adult care home administrator.
Ken Hanson, Marketing Director
Ken joined Presbyterian Manor in March 2002 after nearly a decade in advertising sales and sports broadcasting for KANS radio. He continues to serve as the voice of high school sports on 96.1, “The Wave” radio. He holds a Bachelor of General Studies degree from Emporia State University. Among his many community activities, he is president of the Flint Hills Optimist Club, past president of Kansas Association of Health Care Communicators, and chairman of the Hand–In-Hand Hospice advisory committee of the Newman Regional Health Foundation. He is also a Kansas Jaycee International senator, ambassador with the Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce, and co- chair of the board of directors, ESU United Methodist Campus Ministry. Ken is a member of Grace United Methodist Church and a lay speaker in the United Methodist Church.
Linda Morgan, Administrative Service Assistant
Linda has been with Emporia Presbyterian Manor since April 1991 when she joined us as housekeeping supervisor. She is a graduate of Emporia High School and a member of Messiah Lutheran Church.
Terry Miller, Accounting Assistant
Terry joined Emporia Presbyterian Manor in June 1998. She previously spent three years as business office manager at Emporia Rehabilitation Center. Prior to that, Terry worked as an office supervisor for Food 4 Less, and as a financial assistant with Brad T. Miller and Associates. Following graduation from Olpe high school, Terry attended Flint Hills Technical College.
Debra Burris, Home Health Assisted Living Supervisor
Debra joined Emporia Presbyterian Manor in November 1985 as a licensed practical nurse. She spent the previous four years at Newman County Memorial Hospital, and also served as a certified medication aide instructor at Flint Hills Technical College. She earned her degrees in nursing from Butler Community College and through the practical nursing program at Flint Hills Technical College. Debra is a licensed practical nurse and registered nurse.
Mark Meador, Activities Director
Mark joined Emporia Presbyterian Manor in February 2007. He previously served as ball field maintenance foreman for the Emporia Recreation Commission for nine years. Mark earned his bachelor’s degree as a recreation specialist from Emporia State University. He also holds Associate of Arts degree from Coffeyville Community College.
Maria Lane, Social Worker
Before joining Emporia Presbyterian Manor as social services director in May 2009, Maria was a special education para with USD 253. She previously served as activity director/social service director at Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor, and as a child protective social worker for SRS in Winfield, Kansas. Maria has a bachelor’s degree in sociology/anthropology and is certified as a licensed social worker. She is a member of American Gold Star Mothers, Families of the Fallen and National Association of Social Workers.
Sara Samford, Dining Services Director
Sara joined Presbyterian Manor in June 2013. She previously worked as dining services director at Golden Living Center in Chase County, and she worked throughout high school and college as a dining services assistant. Sarah has a bachelor’s degree in nutrition from Murray State University in Murray, Ky. She is a certified dietary manager, certified Food Production Professional, a Certified Food Protection Professional (CFPP) and holds a ServSafe certification. Debra Thornton, Health Services Director
Debra became health services director in June 2014. Debra previously worked at Newman Regional Health in Emporia. She also worked part time for Coffey County Hospital and the Madison Manor. Before entering the health care field, she worked as a pipefitter for Daniels Construction at Wolfcreek Nuclear Power Plant. She attended Newman Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, where she graduated in 1989. She earned a bachelor of science in nursing from Tabor College and has several clinical certifications including advanced life support, pediatric advanced life support, trauma nursing core course, and basic life support.
